I use a wide variety of media for my sculptures and installations. In my current practice paper and clay are the main materials I'm working with. In addition, I employ sound, film and photography in my works. A recurring approach for many of my projects is the modification of existing objects and the experimentation with the materials involved. The narratives for the individual works come from observations of my immediate environment and current news items.
In my works with newsprint, I explore the many possibilities of reclaimed paper as a sculptural material. The made objects relate to specific aspects of this pervasive mass media, e.g. the diverse modes in which it tells stories and attempts to convey reality as well as its lay-out and other visual aspects.
In the shoe projects, with self-made shoes, I focus on the act of walking. The wearer, in a performative act, is disabled from just mechanically moving the feet over the ground. The modified shoes function as tools that help to experience the body as a vehicle with a set of more or less controllable features.
